The Departments
Local Support
As the entry point and foundation for the Villes et Villages Fleuris label program, the departments identify local governments ready to commit and guide them through the process of earning the label.
They provide technical support to municipalities to integrate greening and ecological management into development projects, thereby actively supporting their efforts to create more sustainable and resilient communities.
As on-the-ground stakeholders, they conduct regular monitoring and work closely with the Region and the CNVVF.
Their missions
- Inform and raise awareness among communities
- Supporting municipalities in their progress
- Organize the departmental judging panels
- Propose awarding the first flower
- Promote the sharing of best practices at the local level

The Flower-Filled Departments
Created in 1988, the “Département Fleuri” label recognizes departments that are committed to improving quality of life, enhancing the area’s appeal, and providing a warm welcome to both residents and visitors. It recognizes their involvement in promoting and developing the Villes et Villages Fleuris label at the local level.
Awarded for a five-year term by the CNVVF, this label acknowledges the departments’ leading role in organizing the program, raising awareness, and supporting municipalities, as well as in promoting the region. It serves as a key driver of policies related to land use planning, environmental preservation, and tourism development.
In particular, it recognizes the coherence and relevance of the departmental strategy, the resources mobilized, the dynamism of the local network, and the actions implemented to promote the program.
To date, 17 departments have been awarded the “Département Fleuri” designation.
