The departments form the foundation of the organization: they identify local governments ready to commit to a sustainable planning approach and provide technical support to help them incorporate greening and ecological management into their planning projects—an essential step toward obtaining the certification.
The regions, which are at the heart of the organization and are represented by regional tourism committees or other bodies, support municipalities in their journey toward continuous improvement. They award the first three Fleurs and ensure the consistency of the label at the regional level.
The CNVVF is the governing body for the label and, in particular, coordinates the network’s activities. It awards the “4th Flower”—a symbol of excellence—as well as national prizes. It also provides training for the judging panels, ensures the standardization of criteria, and oversees the national network.
Nearly 2,000 local experts contribute to this collective effort. Present in every region, they share their advice, analyses, and feedback.
This collaborative approach, which combines expertise, community engagement, and education, makes the Villes et Villages Fleuris label Villes et Villages Fleuris unique model of cooperation dedicated to improving the quality of life and promoting sustainable development in local communities.
