Annual Meeting of the " Villes et Villages Fleuris " Network Villes et Villages Fleuris A Highlight for Those Involved with the Certification Program

On May 26, in Paris, the National Council of Villes et Villages Fleuris CNVVF) brought together departmental coordinators, regional coordinators, elected officials, and partners for its annual network meeting. It was a key opportunity to strengthen synergies, share best practices, and highlight the commitment of local communities.

A highlight to showcase the momentum driven by local communities

Three regions took the floor to present concrete initiatives, illustrating the diversity and richness of the actions being carried out locally:

  • The Dordogne Department has presented its technical guide to sustainable planning, a particularly well-developed resource illustrated with concrete examples from certified municipalities. This guide, intended for elected officials and their teams, aims to support them in designing landscape enhancement projects. It is organized around four key areas: landscape, vegetation, mobility, and biodiversity.
  • The Yvelines Department has demonstrated how it uses the label as a vehicle for the region’s ecological transition. It offers municipalities a range of resources: training, practical guides, technical visits, as well as “green brigades”—teams composed of RSA recipients who have been trained in landscaping and can be called upon to support the implementation of municipal projects.
  • The Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes Region presented its approach to regional development, which is based on close ties and strategic partnerships, to provide support that is closely aligned with the needs of local governments.

Spotlight on the Label's Transformation

A modernized image, in line with its values

Over the past two years, the label has undergone a profound transformation of its image: media campaigns, the creation of new communication materials, an increased presence on social media, the launch of a dedicated Petit Futé guide, and, in the coming months, the launch of a new website.
These changes aim to strengthen the alignment between the label’s image and its founding values: sustainable living environments, environmental commitment, civic engagement, and the appeal of local communities. By clarifying its positioning and highlighting local initiatives, the label reaffirms its role as a strategic partner alongside local governments.

The New Mission Statement: A Collective Effort to Evolve the Label

To remain a relevant and agile partner in addressing local challenges, a major review has been underway since 2023 focusing on the CNVVF’s purpose and the certification program. This review has taken place in several phases and through various complementary approaches: an ongoing dialogue with the various stakeholders—particularly during the network’s major events—and two direct consultations with the network and certified municipalities.

Each session brought to light various perspectives and proposals. Some are shared by all, while others differ, complement one another, enrich one another, or add nuance.
The Network Meeting provided an opportunity to present the key lessons learned from these consultations, as well as the CNVVF’s new mission statement: a unifying vision designed to guide the Council’s future actions in line with the needs and expectations of local communities.
